At our latest rooftop jaunt our group included an acclaimed art photographer whose work has been featured in galleries and published in books. Using antique cameras and black-and-white film, she captured some especially lovely images of our happy band.
And to give you the complete picture (as it were), a behind-the-scenes peek or two, in full color.
Any “film” camera is basically antique at this point but a vintage Rolleiflex is classy!
Does the photographer have a web site of her own?
Good eye! As for a website of her own…perhaps, but in keeping with our tradition of allowing all participants to maintain their anonymity, we’re going to respectfully demur…
Reblogged this on home clothes free.
Fabulous!
I have come to look forward to the regulars, especially the lovely damsel with the perfect imperfection…
and her taste in literature is just as appealing
You have reached a new level of class and sophistication with the B&W experiment
(Applause!)
Love B&W photography, and these shots are great. My compliments to the photographer.
I am a big fan and I work for the Queens Economic Development Corporation and the Queens Tourism Council. I would like to invite the appreciation society to the most diverse county in the world for an afternoon of reading, sun and adventure. There are many Queens spots that would be perfect for your activities. Plus, I could probably get some free food and/or drink. If there’s any interest, please contact me at rmackay@queensny.org. Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m not sure how many of our participants would want to come, but we’re open to the idea. Will drop you a note…
This is so nice and a lovely idea. I really just lost my words. Did you think of doing some snapshoots with a polaroid next time?
Greetings Martin
No plans to shoot with a Polaroid, but it might be fun sometime. Thanks for the suggestion!
how did you all get together? are you models?
As it says on the ‘About’ page, we’re friends and friends of friends and friends of friends of friends; people hear about the group through word of mouth or from articles about us or in a variety of other ways. Some of us have done some modeling, but most have not. We’re just ordinary people enjoying summer afternoons in the sun.
Love the black and whites.
So you gals seem to have moved on from topless to full nudity?
Not moved on–just something we enjoy doing once in a while, for the fun of it.
The last photo in particular is excellent. Some monochrome park photos could look really stylish.
Loving the B/W shots, nice work by the photographer.
If I said “SS”, would I be right?
Nope…not Sharon Stone…
Silly old me. Of course it isn’t. Ms Stone isn’t known for her willingness to be photographed in such a state of undress. Plus, she’s quite big, and the individual in question is most definitely…
OMG! Is that a Rolleiflex twin lens reflex camera with the 2 1/4 square film? I used to use one of those back in my ancient days of high school. I was one of the school photographers for the annual, and used both plus-x and tri-x B&W film. Did my own film developing too in the dark room, and made contact prints of the pictures as well as enlargements.
I haven’t thought about that stuff in years. These days it’s a digital camera.
This is great, I’d like to see more, and spend some time catching on to this.
